About LaSalle General Hospital
Lasalle General CEO
Mrs. Francis came to LaSalle General Hospital in 1980 and has since been an integral part of the Administrative Team, serving under seven CEOs. This, in itself, speaks highly of her knowledge and ability to more than capably fill this role. She has seen and dealt with many changes in the healthcare industry during her tenure and the Board feels she has the necessary assets to face these challenges.
Lana noted that “LaSalle General Hospital has been a successful organization because of the past leadership, the support of the community and all who work here. We will continue to rely on these strengths as we move forward in the ever changing field of healthcare.”
Lana is married to Tommy Francis and they have two sons, Russ, married to Samantha, Ryan, and four grandchildren, Ava, TJ, Amelia, and Andie.
Our History
Hospital Service District No. 2 of LaSalle Parish was created in April 1966 by the LaSalle Parish Police Jury. In October 1970, LaSalle General Hospital opened with thirty seven (37) medical/surgical beds.
The facility has experienced tremendous growth over the years, as additional physicians and professional services were added. This growth includes not only buildings but services as well. Highlights of that expansion include:
- 1979 – LaSalle Home Health opened, expanding services outside our main campus;
- 1980 – A nursing home was opened, and the hospital completed an expansion of medical/surgical beds;
- 1982 – The Nursing Home was split off from Hospital Service District #2, and operated as a separate not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation with a separate Board;
- 1998 – Therapy and Wellness building opened, making LGH one of the first small rural hospitals to offer comprehensive therapy and Wellness services;
- 2000 – Renovation and expansion of the main Hospital building upgraded the Emergency Room, Admitting, Medical Records and Radiology areas;
- 2002 – LaSalle Nursing Home not-for-profit corporation was dissolved and the Nursing Home was consolidated back under Hospital Service District #2 (today the Hospital and Nursing Home operate as separate enterprise funds under one governmental unit, with financial statements consolidated on the year-end audit);
- 2004 – LGH took over operation of the LSU Health Science Center medical clinic in Jonesville, subsequently obtaining approval to be operated as a Rural Health Clinic;
- 2007 – LGH installed a facility-wide computer system including administrative and clinical functionality with the goal of implementing an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and exchanging data with other healthcare organizations;
- 2010 – The Medical Office Building, with space for physician suites and a Diagnostic Center, was completed.
- 2011 – Imaging equipment upgraded so that Cardiology service line could be added, including ability to do diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker implants, and the like.
Today LGH is a comprehensive healthcare clinic licensed for 49 acute inpatient beds, skilled nursing care (swing beds), a broad range of outpatient services, ambulance service (with financial support from the Ambulance Service District of LaSalle Parish), home health care, New Vision rehabilitation center and physician clinics in both Jena and Jonesville. Our commitment to the residents of LaSalle and surrounding parishes is stronger than ever, and we continue to strive to meet the primary healthcare needs of our entire service area.
